Every one is perry much right about these place,Older in age but vary organized and clean ,nice waitress,good cook ,food is delicious ,not over price,many spots to park truck and trailer, very nice place.

It was wonderful...food was awesome...the people on 2nd n 3rd shifts are great...

They were under new management and the menu was drastically different and not as great

The bacon cheeseburger and fries were DELICIOUS! The banana pudding is OMG!! A definite stop for food BUT will not dine in again because they allow smoking. My husband is allergic to the smoke & I just dont like the smell. If the weather is right, we can stay & take advantage of the outdoor seating area. The food is a FIVE star. I gave a 4 star because of the smoking.

Great place to eat. Good ole fashioned truck stop. Showers are free to truckers. No purchase necessary. Free coffee. Just an all around great place!

Good place to sleep, eat, and shower. It's also on the way to Louisville or Indiana so its convenient. Lacks a little on space but it's got what you need.

First time eating there and I ordered the cheeseburger. Good burger, (the way they used to be!) Our server was very friendly but never checked on us for a refill. I paid my tab for a cheeseburger, fries and a coke and the total rang out for $10.83. Now the burger was good, and I understand the need to make a profit. But me thinks they're gouging the truck drivers a wee bit. My only complaint was the price. (I'm not gonna complain that the smell of cigarette smoke would knock you down, only cause I'm used to being around smokers. And I'm not gonna question the fact that the cooks were drinking out of a two litre instead of the fountain like the rest of us. (Rockcastle County water is hideous but I couldn't taste a difference in my drink). My suggestion to the owners.... Invest some money and cleanup/update the place a little bit. It might help.

Good home cooked meals. Pintos and cornbread always available. Breakfast meals are always top notch. Good price on meals and plenty of truck parking.

There appears to be a full service restaurant but I’ve never eaten here. I bought a pint of milk and a Snickers bar. You can get motor oil, coolant, tobacco products, a slim selection of soft drinks and candy bars.

It does allow smoking but I'm a smoker so thats perfect. Went there with my husband and he said thats how truck stops used to be. They are super friendly and have amazing home cooked food. The server was very sweet

I came for the Nanner pudin’ and it did not disappoint. Didn’t see a menu, old school dive. Happy to eat here instead of fast food.

It was super cool. I really liked that the decor was all original from the 60's or 70's. It's always interesting like a museum. The service was very very good and the food was out of this world good. I would eat there every night if I could. Definitely reccomened this place.

The people are so friendly and tha place is a REAL TRUCK STOP AND OFFER FREE SHOWERS !! I told tha lady my neck hurts she said go get u a shower i asked how much she said there free. Good hearted people like that mack this place great!!

I can't stand to smell smoke inside, look so weird truck stop. They allowed you to smoke inside even in restaurant too. Can you trust chef to cook for your foods? because you never know they smoke during cook your foods. I just came in and left short time! Won't never return! Peace!✌

Service and food was excellent and was real home cooked type food

Was at the TS to get my trl tire replaced on a sunday, had to call out the person (John) who sold a 11r 22.5 used tire, and put it on, went to restaurant had a burger and fries, friendly watress and food was ok, not the best.

Stopped in to use the restroom and grab a quick bite. Ordered the Western Burrito which came filled with lots of griddled ham, cheese, eggs, peppers, and I think mushrooms and it was SUPER tasty!The bathrooms weren't all that great but I'd be happy to come back and sit down for a full meal 😁

Stopped for the night in Kentucky at a lil old truck stop called Derby City South. Little mom and pop Cafe like we used to have. Even had the picture "Grace" hanging on the wall. We had the best friend green tomatoes and Todd was like a little kid with his fried bologna sandwich! The prices were unbelievably cheap. I even had some sweet tea. Our bill was $25! Great stop if you are ever in this area

I've eaten here at least once a week for the past 5 weeks and have yet to get a bad meal! Bathrooms need attention but food and service is excellent!!

Giving it 3 stars because of the restaurant. Very good food. The rest of it, including the woman working the store register on 08/01/2020 in the late afternoon get 1 star. She was very unfriendly and looked at me like I had 3 heads. Maybe because I was wearing a mask (there is a worldwide pandemic taking place whether you believe it or not) I also do not have a southern accent. I was friendly and she never acknowledged my hello, thank you or any other comment I made trying to be nice. She only spoke when she needed to direct me to do something pertaining to the transaction. Made me wish I didn't waste my effort to be friendly. Bathrooms are absolutely filthy.

Had Thanksgiving dinner here. Only place open that I know of around here. Appreciated it greatly as a trucker. Thanks for the great service and food.

Good food for a decent price. Quick service and our waitress was quick to offer a refill on our drinks. I was looking forward to banana pudding, unfortunately they didn't have any. Decided on BlackBerry cobbler instead.....and it was a pretty good compromise.....especially warmed and served with vanilla ice cream.

Good little secret spot in Kentucky. Good food and friendly staff here always hits the spot. The Catfish followed with the perfect Pecan pie was like a grand slam.

Pretty dang scary/creepy when you stop there in the middle of the night. Thought they were closed bc no cashier, no open sign, looked dark..but there were people in the restaurant side..?? After stretching out a bit, we got back in the car, and sure enough, a trucker walked inside. So, you should probably make it more obvious that your open...might get more customers. Especially being the only gas station open late at night

All I can say is OMG!!! THIS PLACE IS AWESOME... I ordered biscuits and gravy with fried potatoes....YES! REAL FRIED POTATOES. I know that isn't exciting for some but for a truck driver, it is great. They give you so much food for such a cheap price, I couldn't eat it all.... if you haven't eaten here before, its definitely worth a visit.... I'm hoping to stop again on my way back through....definitely two thumbs up.

Food is always top notch at Derby City. Best to pick a slow time, since they still allow smoking inside the restaurant, unless you're a smoker, that is...which I am not.

Best cheeseburgers and onion rings ever

Is now under new management 6/2/2020....read all of this before you go! I originally gave this place 4 stars. If you went there for the bourbon bacon cheeseburger on a pretzel bun, it's gone! Pretty expensive, considering It's now comparable to McDonald's! So I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and so did my husband, his had no bacon!I also ordered onion rings, Which consisted of 6 small dried up nastyness! This was a to go order, when my husband asked, is this all you get for an order of onion rings, she paused and said would you like to leave a tip...🤦 We won't be going back! BTW the menu for this website is not the current menu! Take 25 north about 9 miles, go to "Rita's come and go" on the right side of the road, that's our new burger joint!!

A little run down although the RESTAURANT was awesome!! "Drivers" just park however they want because they only care about themselves. There is a shop on site.I do recommend the restaurant Nana puddin is seasonal.

Great place and great people

4 stars for the food. Food was fantastic. The store sucks. Bathrooms dirty. They have showers but I’m not sure I would chance it. Only thing they really had in the store was a small selection of 20oz beverages and some oil antifreeze etc. Don’t expect much here, but definitely eat the food in the diner. Honestly will be the only reason I’ll return.

Reading prior reviews had me worried about the smoke content. I have COPD and I can tell you, the smoke did not bother me (but everyone is different). I had the liver and onions, the hubby had the fish special. The food was excellent and very well worth the money. Our server was a very nice young lady that checked on us regularly. We love truck stops like this. The younger generation would consider it "vintage". We consider it a good place to eat for a reasonable price. Highly recommend stopping here.
